Edwin Land was inspired by his three year old daughter, who had asked him why she couldn't see a photo he had taken of her right away, Land created a system of one-step photography. Land used the principle of diffusion transfer to reproduce the image recorded by the camera's lens directly onto a photosensitive surface which now functioned as both film and photo. Edwin Land's original idea behind instant photography was to create a photographic system that was seamless and easy for anyone to use. Various types of professional Polaroid films are used to create the images as seen.
